Anglers of Honor at Lincoln Hills
It’s fall in the Rockies and the weather is perfect. We have an enthusiastic group of Vets and Craig hospital patients. We gathered on the deck of the eco-center for some pastries and juice. Next, we broke out into small groups with the guides to review the basics of fly fishing. Now it’s time to put the waders on and head to the river. The guides pair up with the Vets and head for the water. The rest of us waited for the Craig hospital bus to arrive.

Once the Craig patients were ready, we headed to the dock that surrounds the pond. A couple of the Craig patients got into the Trac chairs and went to the river and on a scenic tour of the grounds. Everyone is fishing, smiling and having a great time. Some trout will end up in a net and will be released to swim away. After a morning of fishing, it’s time to head up to the deck for lunch and conversation. Ranch West 40 restaurant in Lakewood provided our lunch and always has fantastic meals waiting for the group. It only takes a minute to glance at everyone’s face to see that it’s been a wonderful day. A big thanks to all the Anglers of Honor guides, volunteers, Craig hospital staff and Ranch West 40 who made today possible.
