September ’25 Outings Report

We always wind down summer and welcome fall with flair! This year’s transition was no less spectacular. Here’s a quick-hit summary of just some of our activities in September:

Fly Fishing with Anglers of Honor at Lincoln Hills
Black Hawk, September 6
Participants: Craig Hospital, Operation TBI Freedom (OTF), Fort Carson Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU), Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital

Our expert guides from Front Range Anglers  helped participants navigate these beautiful private waters of Boulder Creek for catch-and-release trout fishing followed by lunch from Gondolier Italian Eatery. Our thanks to everyone who made this possible.

Equine-Assisted Therapy with the Remount Foundation
Colorado Springs, September 9
Participants: OTF and the VA

Vets learned a lot from centering exercises and had a great time on a gentle horseback trail ride.

Family Fishing & Fun Day with Colorado Youth Outdoors
Fort Collins, September 20
Participants: Craig Hospital, OTF, SRU and VA

There are so many ponds to choose from to hook and release bass, trout and blue gill! And the 3D archery course is always a crowd favorite. After a morning of fishing and archery, we gathered for a great pasta lunch from Gondolier Italian Eatery, learned about stretching and centering exercises from our friends at Comeback Yoga – and took in a couple of more hours of fun on the grounds. Our thanks to everyone who made the event possible.

Blacksmithing and Welding at Kilroy’s Workshop
Colorado Springs, September 27
Participants: Ft. Carson SRU and VA

Hammers, open flame, knife forging and welding with welcoming experts in the trades. What’s there not to love?!

Trading Cards with Art Students League of Denver
Denver, September 30
Participants: Craig Hospital and VA

Using an array of materials, our participants tapped into their imagination and inner child to create trading cards from an array of materials.
