Antelope Hunt in Strassburg

January 7th & 14th, 2019
Location: RGG Outfitters, Strasburg, CO.
Hosted By: River Deep and SCI HOP
Participants: Operation TBI Freedom & Fort Carson Warrior Transition Battalion

The River Deep Alliance and SCI HOP have rung in the new year at full speed with more than six events in the month of January alone! Russel Maclennan has successfully guided three antelope hunting events so far this month with more scheduled to close out 2018-2019 game season.

Hunters from Operation TBI Freedom and Fort Carson were given the opportunity to harvest late season antelope on farms throughout the eastern I-70 corridor spanning from as far south as Ellicott and throughout the Strasburg and Limon areas. Local farmers welcomed veterans and service members to utilize late season tags. In typical hunting fashion, the antelope and weather were not always ideal, however under the supervison of seasoned professional guides our veterans were able to fill tags and have a blast doing so. Service members from the Army, Marines, and Airforce were successful. In a rare turn of events, one army Lieutenant took two antelope with only one round, redeeming himself from an earlier miss! Soldiers are looking forward to finishing out the month with the final hunt taking place on the 28th of January.
