Thanks to the approximately 100 participants and volunteers who helped us put the FUN in FUNDRAISER! This year's clays shoot, held June 17 at Colorado Clays, was a great success.
We're grateful for our longtime donors and for the newcomers who made time to learn more about us and left saying, "Count on me to be helpful!" Indeed, we will. Thanks, too, to the event's generous sponsors -- Buehler Companies, The Bluffs and Herdsman Capital -- and for support received from Bass Pro Shops and Match One Medical. We're also grateful for the fantastic sirloin lunch donated and served by the All-American Beef Battalion and for Alta Vista Dermatology in Highlands Ranch for donating cases of sunscreen! Our shooters competed for prizes and also snared some great gear by entering drawings that raised even more money for the foundation. The day's top shooter scored a 98 on the Colorado Clays course -- so consider that the number to beat at next year's event.

Location: U.S. Air Force Equestrian Center, Colorado Springs Hosted by: River Deep Foundation and the Remount Foundation Participating Group: Operation TBI Freedom It was another amazing day with nice weather and great conversation at the Air Force Academy! On this venture, four veterans and three family members learned about the benefits of equine-assisted learning (EAL). Instructor Jennie led a few EAL exercises to help participants understand more about this therapeutic approach to taking ownership of their healing, learning how to reconnect with family and friends, and developing the resiliency that helps them reintegrate into society. Location: Meridan Golf Club, Englewood, CO Hosted by: River Deep Foundation Golf Tournament Fundraiser It was a perfect day for golf and a great event to help River Deep Foundation continue its mission to support the healing process for wounded veterans and individuals with disabilities. There were many familiar faces back again to support our fundraising efforts as well as new faces excited to learn about how we care and support our veterans. The event started with breakfast followed by time on the driving range and putting greens to warm up. After warming up, everyone eagerly hopped on their golf carts and headed to the first tee to start the days events. The course was in fantastic shape. Everyone had a great time on the course. After 18 holes, everyone gathered at the clubhouse for lunch where the winners of the hole events were announced. Along with prizes for the winners, there were nice door prizes for others. A big thanks to the staff at Meridian Golf Club and all the participants and volunteers who made this a fun and successful fundraising event for River Deep Foundation! Location: Specialty Appliance Showroom, Greenwood Village Holiday Party and Presentation of Appliance Package Donations For several years, Specialty Appliance has been kind enough to open their Greenwood Village showroom to us so that we can host our wild game cooking classes. This year they approached us with offer to donate three appliance packages to veterans as a thank you for their service. On December 2nd they held a spectacular holiday party at their showroom for colleagues and partners in the Kitchen and Bath industry. Wonderful food, music and festive company was plentiful! During the event, the packages, donated by Whirlpool, were presented to three veterans who are clients Operation TBI Freedom. Each package is worth $3,200 toward the Whirlpool appliances of their choosing. The recipients were very grateful and appreciative for the gift that helped make their holidays extra special. The event also included a silent auction, the proceeds of which were donated to River Deep Foundation. We would like to express out sincere gratitude to everyone at Specialty Appliance and Whirlpool for their continued support, kindness and generosity. We are so proud to have Quality of Life + as part of our alliance and have loved working with students to develop adaptive equipment for our participants. Projects so far have made it easier for individuals with disabilities to participate in archery, sporting clays and fishing. These real-world problem solving experiences are priceless opportunities for everyone involved. We look forward to further projects with QL+ and their partner schools.
Date: July 26, 2021 Location: Meridian Golf Club, Englewood, CO Hosted by: Rocky Mountain Harley-Davidson Golf Tournament Fundraiser hosted by Rocky Mountain Harley-Davidson River Deep Foundation was honored to be chosen by Rocky Mountain Harley-Davidson (RMHD) to be the beneficiary of their 20th Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser! Our outings programs rely on support like this, so we can provide veterans a path to healing for the physical, mental, and emotional effects of their physical injuries and other 'invisible' ones like TBI and PTSD. The day opened with a ceremonious presentation of the colors by the color guard from Ft. Carson SRU. Command Sergeant Major King then spoke about River Deep and how important our programs are to helping the helping the soldiers while they are active duty and veterans. We began the tournament with over 100 golfers participating! Those who have been to golf tournaments before know that there is often a hole-in-one challenge with huge prize like a car, or in this case, a motorcycle. If a golfer gets a hole-in-one at a particular hole, they win the prize. But it never happens, right? However, on this special day, golfer Lauren Penland was up to the challenge and WON a new Harley-Davidson live-wire electric motorcycle adding a lot of extra excitement to the event! Congratulations, Lauren! The event raised over $10,000 for River Deep Foundation. We are so grateful to Kathy and Marina at RMHD for their support and their entire staff, who volunteered on their day off to assist with the event as well as the sponsors and participants who made the day possible. Mike and the staff at Meridian provided a wonderful lunch and as always, impeccable service! Bob Adwar Executive Director, River Deep Foundation Chairman, SCI Humanitarian Outreach Program ![]()

Location: Kiowa Creek Sporting Clays Hosted by: River Deep & SCIHOP Participating Groups: Operation TBI & Ft. Carson SRU Sporting Clays Fundraiser A group of wonderful people gathered to enjoy the great weather and good food while supporting the River Deep Foundation. Everyone had a fun time, participating in some friendly competition shooting clays. Lunch, donated by the American Beef Battalion, was a delicious ribeye steak with corn, mashed potatoes, and dessert. The fundraiser ended with some prizes for the best clay shooters and others participating in the event! It was incredible to have another successful event. Each year this fundraiser gets better with the funds raised going directly to providing outings for wounded veterans and individuals with disabilities. A big thank you to all of the sponsors, volunteers, participants, and the River Deep Foundation's incredible supporters. About 20 years ago Bob Adwar contacted Craig Hospital about taking patients on outdoor adventures as a way to help with the healing process through the Denver SCI Chapter. This effort has since expanded to help veterans and has grown into its own foundation that partners with an alliance of 8 amazing non-profits. One of these is Operation TBI Freedom (OTF) a program of Craig Hospital.
At our alliance committee meeting this week Bob was thanked for all of his hard work and value to the veteran clients of OTF who are able to participate and benefit from River Deep outings. This beautiful plaque was presented by Jesus Garcia, Alfredo Garcia, Steve Smith with much gratitude! It reads: Bob Adwar Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our program, clients, family members and staff. We appreciate everything you do for our military program. From your brothers and sisters at OTF and Craig Hospital. |
