Montana Fish & Float Trip at Camp Bullwheel
Arriving at Camp Bullwheel one can’t help but notice the picturesque valley surrounded  by mountains. We are all ready for some time floating and fishing down the Madison River. Between the fishing, the views of the snow capped mountains, and the brisk water of the Madison River one can’t help but get lost in the scenery. We all took time to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. As one veteran said, this is a place to not only come and fish, but to relax, quiet your mind and fill your soul with the beauty of nature.

Day 1: The weather didn’t want to cooperate, so we explored the town of Ennis Montana. We hit the jackpot with the Ennis hot springs. Days 2-4: We got in the river and launched our boats, three in all. Floating down the river was breathtaking as we watched bald eagles and ospreys do a little fishing for themselves. Catching fish was what we were there to do, and we were not disappointed. Everyone caught multiple fish. Day after day our fishing skills improved as we landed more and more fish – Brown Trout, Rainbows and Whitefish. We learned from our guides what to look for to find the fish, where we should cast, and they helped improve our casting skills.

A huge thank you to our host Peter Pauwels and his crew at camp Bullwheel for the opportunity to spend time in such a beautiful place, the fly fishing instruction, and most importantly, the support they showed all of us veterans. We all left feeling confident in our abilities, to be able to take our rods and hit the waters of Colorado.
