Trap Shoot & Pheasant Hunt at The Bluffs
11/25/2020
It was a beautiful sunny day with no wind. A perfect day to be outdoors! Most of the
participants were new to trapshooting and bird hunting. We started out with the fundamentals of shooting a shotgun, hitting a flying target, and the safety issues in the field with pointing and flushing dogs. Then it was time for a great lunch at the Bluffs Lodge. After lunch we split up into two groups and the guides used two dogs for each group. We walked the meadows and grasslands in search of pheasants, but simply being in the fields with the sun shining and watching the dogs do what they love was enough to make for a fun day! The birds were just a bonus! At the end of the day there were a lot of bonus points and everyone went home with some healthy food. A big thanks to The Bluffs, the guides, and the dogs! Trap Shooting & Pheasant Hunt
11/9/2019
November 9, 2019
Location: Valhalla Hunt Club, Bennett, CO. Hosted By: River Deep Foundation and SCI HOP Participants: Craig Hospital and the Colorado School of Mines It's a warm November day, perfect to be outside. The first activity of the day will be trap shooting, our group consists of beginners and seasoned shooters, as family members are welcome to shoot a few clays. The School of Mines students will be with us, testing out their new adaptive equipment ad shooting device. At lunch time we headed down to the club house for a great lunch and some discussion about the pheasant hunt. It is time to gather the dogs and head up to the fields in search of pheasants. We have two track chairs that effortlessly navigate the tall grass. The dogs went to work and we managed to flush a few birds. At the end of the day, we managed to harvest a few pheasants for dinner. It's been a great day and big thanks to Valhalla Hunt Club and all the volunteers. Bob Adwar River Deep Foundation, President SCI HOP, VP/Humanitarian Chairman ![]()
