Location: Kremmling, CO Hosted by: River Deep Foundation Participating Groups: Craig Hospital and Operation TBI Float and Fish Trip The weather was warm and the water was cool. What a day we had floating down and fly fishing on the Colorado River! Not only did we get to see some beautiful country, we also watched bald eagles and golden eagles doing some fishing as well. What a sight! With all the recent rain, the river was pretty muddy and madeit a little harder to catch fish. Regardless, we all managed to catch some fish with lots of story telling and smiles to go around. A big thanks to Bob and Deb Dye and the other fishing guides they lined up, who all volunteered to make this amazing trip possible. Location: Lincoln Hills Hosted by: River Deep Foundation Participating Groups: Operation TBI Freedom, Craig Hospital, VA, Ft. Carson SRU Fly Fishing - Anglers of Honor We had an enthusiastic group of veterans and Craig Hospital grads ready to learn fly fishing! The experienced guides from Front Range Anglers started with teaching the fundamentals of gear, knots and casting and then providing further instructions in the crystal clear stream. The trout could be seen rising to the surface to snack on the bugs, making it even more enticing! The fly fishing continued until it was time for lunch which was provided by Gondolier Restaurant. During lunch, everyone had plenty of fishing stories to share. It was a great day made special thanks to Lincoln Hills, Front Range Anglers and Gondolier for a tasty Italian lunch. Location: Lincoln Hills Hosted by: River Deep Foundation Participating Groups: Operation TBI, Craig Hospital, VA, Ft. Carson SRU Fly Fishing - Anglers of Honor It was a great day of fly fishing for all who participated in the Anglers of Honor outing at Lincoln Hills. We started with learning the basics of casting, gear and knots, provided by the expert guides from Front Range Anglers. There were a lot of beginners so it was extremely useful to start with the basics before getting in the water. We will be fishing in both the ponds and streams. After suiting up and getting in the water, it didn’t take long before everyone started to catch and release a variety of fish and truly enjoy learning, relaxing, healing and making new friends. Afterwards we gathered for lunch at the Eco Center to enjoy lunch prepared by Spice of Life and swap fishing stories. Following lunch, there was a surprise for the participants. Each was given an Anglers of Honor fly rod and a Riverdeep spinning rod. Our mission is to help wounded vets and individuals with disabilities heal by organizing and providing outings like this one. It is extremely important that family members are included for support and the experience of sharing activities together. A big thanks to Lincoln Hills, Spice of Life, Front Range Anglers and all the volunteers that made this such an extraordinary outing for all the participants.
