Date: September 4, 2021 Location: Valhalla Hunt Club- Bennett, CO Hosted by: River Deep & SCIHOP Participating Groups: Operation TBI Freedom & Ft. Carson SRU Annual Dove Hunt With a group of six veterans from Operation TBI and Ft Carson SRU, we embarked on our annual dove hunt. The hunt began with the group hidden under some trees surrounded by grass and sunflowers. The group was very quiet and focused on the sky, so they would be able to see the doves taking flight. The group was able to hunt a few doves and, more importantly, everyone had a great time enjoying the outdoors! A big thank you to Valhalla Hunt Club as well as all of the volunteers and veterans that made today a successful outing! September 1, 2019 Location: Valhalla Hunt Club, Bennett, CO. Hosted By: River Deep Foundation and SCI HOP Participants: Operation TBI Freedom & Ft. Carson Warrior Transition Battalion Dove Hunt at Valhalla Hunt Club It's opening day for dove season. We gathered in a grassy field with trees and a pond. We spread out under the trees, which are located close by. The doves flew overhead, some spotted us and veered off. With dove hunting, you have to be quiet and invisible, the doves are small, fast and erratic in their flight pattern. At the end of our morning hunt, we managed a bag of doves, which will be very appreciated around the dinner table. We headed back to the clubhouse for lunch and small talk about the upcoming hunting season. It's been a great day and a big thanks to Valhalla Hunt Club, and Russell and Steph for hosting us. September 4, 2017 Hosted By: Dove Hunt - Holyoke, CO Participants: Freedom Hunters and Operation TBI Freedom Dove Hunt This is our third year Dove Hunting in Holyoke, hosted by Allen Strong. We have six wounded veterans participating. Everyone arrives around 10 am. The weather is cool and overcast so there are not many doves flying. We spread out in two man groups next to the corn fields. A few shots are fired bu no doves in the vest. We flushed four pheasant but we will be back in November to to try our luck with bigger birds. We did knock a few birds down before lunch when the sun comes out and the temperature rises but only a few more birds show up. Everyone is still having a great time. Lunch is prepared by Allen, his wife and friend also named Allen. We have pheasant and brats. Great lunch and a great day. A big thanks to Allen and friends. Bob Adwar Humanitarian Chairman |
