June 24, 2018 Location: Colorado Youth Outdoors, Windsor, CO. Hosted By: River Deep and SCI HOP Participants: Craig Hospital, Operation TBI Freedom, NoCo Veterans Alliance and Ft. Carson WTB Family Fishing and Fun Day This past weekend, River Deep and Denver SCI HOP hosted participants at Colorado Youth Outdoors in Windsor, CO. We had many ponds to fish, a 3-D archery range, and an outdoor pavilion where we had lunch, which was donated by the Escoffier Culinary Academy in Boulder. There were almost 100 people in attendance, including adults, children, volunteers, and guides. The skies were overcast which was good for fishing, but we had rain showers which came and went throughout the day. Everyone spread out, some went to the ponds and some went to the archery range. Some caught fish and some preferred to sling arrows. Either way, it was a great day in a beautiful surrounding. At lunchtime the group headed to the pavilion which is located on one of the ponds, so people could have lunch and fish at the same time. The Escoffier Culinary Academy always does a great job providing a delicious meal. After lunch it was back to the activities. It's been a great day and a big thanks to all who helped make it possible. Bob Adwar SCI, VP/Humanitarian Chairman River Deep, President ![]()

June 15-18, 2018 Location: Vernon, TX. Hosted By: River Deep, SCI HOP and Anglers of Honor Participants: Operation TBI and Ft. Carson WTB Wild Pig Hunt in Texas Vernon Texas and Amy Duncan were hosts to four disabled veterans and two active duty Soldiers for a wild pig hunt over the June 16th weekend. As soon as the Soldiers arrived on Friday night, they were greeted at the local Walmart by employees that anticipated their arrival as arrangements had already been made by the local game warden. When the team arrived at the bunk house they unloaded their gear and went right into an evening pig hunt. Over the three days of hunting on three different ranches and properties, the team saw jackrabbits, coyotes, and feral hogs. The team was successful in harvesting four hogs along with other small game. Time was also spent enjoying the beautiful Texas landscape, swimming, and making relationships with new friends. The entire weekend was full of experiences that no one will forget. The team was very grateful for the opportunities they had and we look forward to sending more soldiers to future events. June 10, 2018 Location: Lincoln Hills, Blackhawk, CO Hosted By: River Deep, SCI HOP and Anglers of Honor Participants: Operation TBI Freedom, Craig Hospital, Ft. Carson WTB Anglers of Honor at Lincoln Hills This past Sunday we had a great group of participants all ready for fly fishing lessons and a chance to hit the river and ponds and land some big trout. Even better, or just as important, we are outside in the mountains surrounded by beautiful scenery. We started with instruction on the fundamentals of fly fishing. After that we put the waders on, pair up with the guides and head to the stream and ponds. The conditions are challenging, the stream is high and fast, so we will fish the pools and eddy's. The ponds had lots of fish, the water is warm, so we will have to work hard to catch fish in both the stream and the pond. At lunchtime everyone headed up to the eco center deck for a great meal from Hardi at the Ranch at West 40 Restaurant, and a chance to swap fish stories. It's been a fun day for all. A big thanks to all who made this possible, all the great organizations, volunteers and participants involved. Bob Adwar SCI, VP/Humanitarian Chairman River Deep, President ![]()
