Date: May 29, 2021 Location: Lincoln Hill - Blackhawk, CO Hosted by: River Deep, Anglers of Honor & SCIHOP Participating Groups: Operation TBI, Craig Hospital, & Ft. Carson SRU Anglers of Honor It was the first fly fishing outing of the year! With fast-moving waters and a cloudy sky, the veterans that participated were in for a challenge. First, the veterans spent time on the deck with the guides learning about the fundamentals of fly fishing. The guides demonstrated how to cast, use the gear, and tie knots. Following the demonstration, the veterans headed into the creek with their guides. Despite the challenging conditions, the veterans had a great time and were even able to catch a few trout! Thank you to Lincoln Hills, the wonderful guides, volunteers, and everyone who made this outing possible! Bob Adwar River Deep Foundation, President SCI HOP - VP of Humanitarian Outreach ![]()

Date: May 23, 2021 Location: RMS Gear, Lakewood, CO Hosted by: River Deep foundation and Denver SCIHOP Participating Groups: Operation TBI Freedom, Ft. Carson SRU Archery Instruction Everyone had a fun day of archery instruction using traditional bows. For some it is their first participating in archery. Others have been here with us on previous outings. Regardless of one’s experience, RMS gear staff always has expert instruction and tips make you better. Some family members joined us today too! The kids all seem to be quite empowered when wielding a bow. They were very focused on learning how to make their arrows hit the bullseye. A big thanks to all the participants, volunteers, and as always fantastic staff. Bob Adwar President, River Deep Foundation Chairman, SCI Humanitarian Outreach Program ![]()
Date: May 17, 2021 Location: Eric Englehard Farm, Longmont, CO Hosted by: River Deep foundation and Denver SCIHOP Participating Groups: Operation TBI Freedom Turkey Hunt We hosted two veterans referred by Operation TBI Freedom for this outing. They were anxious to try their luck at spring turkey hunting — one used a bow and the other a shotgun. Both participants are outdoorsmen, but it's been a while since they last hunted for turkeys. They had a great day out in the field and managed to harvest one bird. Big thanks to Collin who guided today, Infinite Outdoors USA who connected us with this opportunity, and Eric Engelhard for use of his property. Date: May 8, 2021 Location: Kilroy's Workshop Hosted by: River Deep Foundation and Denver SCIHOP Participating groups: Operation TBI Freedom and Fort Carson SRU An amazing time with a group of four veterans learning about the fundamentals of blacksmithing this weekend. Our Master Blacksmith, Ron Hardman, took time to ensure that everyone was prepared for the class. First, they learned a little bit about the history of blacksmithing. Then, the four veterans put all the skills they learned to practice. Each participant made a knife to take home! Hopefully, the handmade knife will make a good mother’s day present. Once again, everyone had a wonderful time at Kilroy's workshop.
