March 24th, 2019 Location: Specialty Appliance, Denver, CO. Hosted By: River Deep and SCI HOP Participants: Operation TBI Freedom & Ft. Carson WTB Our instructor, Leslie Fangman, is going to teach us how to cook what we harvest. She will be cooking up some pheasant dishes, a borscht recipe and a wild boar pulled pork dish. The kitchen showroom at Specialty Appliance is unbelievable. It's hard to tell if the class is more interested in learning how to cook, or just wanting to taste the dishes. Either way, everyone is having a great time and if we forget the recipes, we are all given a wild game cook book written by our instructor, Leslie Fangman! It's been a wonderful day and a huge thanks to Specialty Appliance and Leslie Fangman. Bob Adwar River Deep, President SCI HOP, VP/Humanitarian Chairman ![]()
March 10th, 2019 Location: RMS Gear, Wheat Ridge, CO. Hosted By: River Deep and SCI HOP Participants: Craig Hospital & Operation TBI Freedom We have a packed house today at RMS Gear. Men, women, children, along with the expert staff, will be using recurve bows, a few compounds and one crossbow. Everyone moves up to the line and is fitted with a bow along with some personalized instruction. The fun begins no matter what level you are at. Everyone is having a great time. After a couple of hours of slinging arrows, we were ready for lunch, which was provided by The Ranch West 40 Restaurant (who never disappoints us!). We also have engineering students from the School of Mines who are designing new adaptive equipment for archery, fishing and shooting. The students will be working with us all year and attending many of our outings. We are all looking forward to seeing the end results. Quality of Life Plus is the organization making it happen. It's been a fun day and a big thanks to everyone who made it possible. Bob Adwar River Deep, President SCI HOP, VP/Humanitarian Chairman ![]()
March 4th, 2019 Location: Cottonwood Art Center, Colorado Springs, CO. Hosted By: River Deep and SCI HOP Participants: Craig Hospital & Operation TBI Freedom Our third art class was about Introduction to Acrylic Landscapes. The class was held at the Cottonwood Art Center and was taught by Ben Biers. Students learn how to use acrylic paint to work on landscapes and backgrounds to foreground with a simple, loose approach to mark-making. Some of the students used personal photos to create their own masterpiece. Everyone had an amazing time. We had eight veterans and two family members attended to the class. After the class, we enjoyed pizza and refreshments while admiring everyone's masterpieces that participants get to take home. Huge thank you to the Cottonwood Art Center and thanks to everyone who made this class possible.
